Our brand creation for chocolate start-up, Cartografie,
was founded on a joint commitment to deliver a luxury consumer experience that was true to the brand’s sustainability, biodiversity, and ethics. Inspired by a vision to take consumers on a sensorial experience through the cocoa producing world, all elements of the brand are multi-layered and exquisitely crafted.
The bespoke logotype sees a classic serif, manipulated to echo the movement of melting chocolate, with flowing lines and merging letterforms. The colour palette is inspired by terroir and how it imbues every bite with a sense of place. A gloss world map contrasts with natural, earth-tone papers that evoke the character of the cocoa origins. Gold foil marks the 20 degrees either side of the equator, where the beans ripen, and highlights the founding date. A recyclable band traces the equator and holds the elements in place.
The packaging is flat-packed and modular, meaning the inserts can be used across various box sizes, reducing storage and packaging waste. Assembled, they are a collection of no-glue, origami-style boxes that require hand folding to result in sustainable yet beautiful structures. All papers are FSC accredited, World Land Trust carbon balanced and recyclable.
We worked with Cartografie to create a full 360 Brand World, including website, social medial, store design and branded collateral. Our retail spaces offer a place of relaxation and indulgence. Layers of luxurious, yet sustainable, materials and foliage transport you to the terroir of the cocoa beans, and echo the complex and layered flavours of our chocolates. All our merchandise and point of sale items demonstrate simple, natural materials and timeless forms, balanced with beautifully refined branding. They are unobtrusive and elegant in their presentation and purpose.
In collaboration with Cartografie, we created the Cartografie Christmas Advent Calendar. This collection of 25 days worth of unique pralines, ganaches and chocolate discs showcases the very best of Cartografie Chocolate.
Cementing our commitments to sustainability, all boxes are fully recyclable and biodegradable. The handmade wooden box is intended to be kept and used until next December when you will be able to purchase a new collection of 25 chocolate boxes to refill.
In order to continue to drive new news around the brand, we transform our packaging with a simple overlay sheet. We add layers of interest by using the beautiful shape of our quenelle to create die-cut or graphic patterns inspired by the season. Incredibly flexible, it requires less material and simplifies smaller limited edition runs.
