The decanter is housed in a bespoke handcrafted hexagonal presentation box, produced by UK-based Moran’s Wood. The topographical contours of the walnut case are a tribute to the River Bush, Bushmills village and the landscape around it. A gold engraving along the centre of the box reflects the journey of the River Bush to the Old Bushmills Distillery, the course it has taken through millennia long before Bushmills began distilling in 1608.

To honour the deep connection between Bushmills and Belfast, we set out to celebrate the brand’s historic contribution to the city’s whiskey heritage by bringing this rare single malt back to its former home - The Friend at Hand, originally Bushmills distillery. Exploring Bushmills’ archives, we uncovered hidden narratives from heritage maps, historical records, and archived packaging, revealing the brand’s deep-rooted legacy in Belfast.

Celebrating 40 years of excellence

Bushmills briefed us with the creation of their oldest and rarest expression to date-the exclusive Bushmills 44-Year-Old. Limited to just 40 bottles, this ultra-rare release celebrates the distillery’s 40th anniversary and was available solely at Dubai Duty Free. Every detail of the design captures the essence of timeless luxury. The bottle, box, and accompanying booklet are adorned with classic gold embellishments, subtly reinforcing the prestige nature of the Bushmills brand. A dark wooden box, chosen to reflect the depth and richness of the liquid, is crafted in a striking hexagonal form - a homage to the iconic Giant’s Causeway. This inspiration extends to the intricate internal pattern, seamlessly tying the brand’s heritage to this most exclusive release.
