For Penhaligon’s Trade Routes Collection it’s down to great storytelling through intricate design details.
Inspired by the lavish & decadent commodities that were traded through London’s docks at the turn of the 19th century, we have developed two fresh new fragrances born from the mysterious and exotic style of the Middle East.
Alizarin is rich and intense, named after the red dye cultivated in Egypt since antiquity. Oud de Nil, it’s captivating counterpart, is reminiscent of a romantic bygone era – clean white robes billowing like sails on The Nile.
Tradition has it that best Middle Eastern rugs had their patrons’ names subtly stitched into the fabric, so look closely as an inscription lies hidden within each design.
